Responsibility for operating radiation protection areas and genetic engineering facilities lies with the university management, which is supported administratively and organizationally by the Office of Occupational Safety, Environmental and Health Protection in enforcing the regulations and approval requirements.

Handling

Legal provisions and internal company regulations (lecture in german language with explanation in german law) must be observed when handling biological agents, pathogens or anaesthetics and when using certain lasers. In some cases, approvals, notifications or permits are also required. The Office of Occupational Safety, Environmental and Health Protection advises the operating chairs and facilities on these topics, supports application procedures and maintains central registers for the entire university.
