Disposal of hazardous waste/chemicals

Your hazardous substances are temporarily stored in the interim storage facility for hazardous waste of the Occupational Safety, Environmental Protection and Health Protection Department and are disposed of properly and in an environmentally friendly manner by commercial waste management companies.

Hazardous waste

We can provide you with suitable empty containers for the collection of your waste, templates for identification labels and expert advice.

The facilities are responsible for their waste materials and are liable for the consequences of improper collection, mixing or declaration.

Even in the planning, procurement or production of research chemicals that have to be self-declared, the expertise is naturally only available to the respective institution.

Collection

  • All containers must be suitable, labeled, tightly closed and completely clean on the outside.
  • Overstored, damaged, leaking or contaminated containers must be reported separately in advance.
  • In these cases, collection modalities and suitable repackaging must be determined jointly.

Modalities of the handover

  • Every waste delivery / collection requires a written registration with the waste disposal form.
  • Expert advice is often required to complete the form. Please contact us.
  • Please provide as much information as possible about the contents of the individual containers.
  • Internal laboratory abbreviations or trivial names are not sufficient.
  • All containers must be clearly labeled by you.
  • Old, inapplicable labels must be removed, dirty or illegible labels must be replaced.
  • Templates can be found in the waste guide
  • The containers must be tightly closed, clean on the outside and free of chemical residues.
  • Collection containers for solvents and other liquids may be filled to a maximum of 90%.
  • Substances must not release gases or contain self-igniting components.
  • Furthermore, all points listed in the waste guide must be observed.
