Occupational health care

Every employer is obliged to offer its employees occupational health care in accordance with the statutory guidelines. Occupational health checks are carried out at the start of employment and after certain periods of time. At TU Dortmund University, registration is not carried out centrally by the Office of Human Resources at the time of recruitment, but the managers in each work area are responsible for registration. The necessary precautionary measures are selected on the basis of the risk assessment of the workplace and the activity.

Form for initial registration. Subsequent invitations are issued automatically by the Office of Occupational Safety, Environmental and Health Protection.

A distinction is made between mandatory preventive care, which is a prerequisite for carrying out a certain activity, and optional preventive care, which the employer must offer its employees.

Optional preventive care is occupational health care that the employer must provide for all work activities - as the last stage of the triology, so to speak. This entitlement only does not exist if no damage to health is to be expected.

Based on the risk assessment, this includes an interview with a work history and, if necessary, subsequent examinations.

In addition to occupational health screening, the BGM team organizes preventive services for employees. Examples include flu vaccination campaigns and health days.

In accordance with statutory regulations, the employer is not informed of the results of any occupational health check-ups (confidentiality/data protection). Employees are advised of the results and findings by the company medical service. At the request of the employees, the results will be made available in writing.

TU Dortmund University employees do not incur any costs for the screenings and the screenings usually take place during working hours.
