General rules of conduct in the event of fire

Safety through correct action

Precautionary measures for everyday life

Preventive behavior is crucial to avoid fires and to be prepared in the event of an emergency:

Keep escape routes clear

Corridors and stairwells serve as vital escape routes and as access routes for the fire department. It is strictly forbidden to operate electrical devices (depending on the building permit; please contact the fire safety officer if you have any questions) or to place flammable objects in these areas. Blocked or smoke-filled areas considerably delay rescue operations.

In the event of a fire alarm, all persons must leave the building immediately via the escape routes provided and proceed to the assembly point. Adhere to the following steps:

  1. Report the fire (see above).
  2. Leave the building safely.
  3. If possible: attempt to extinguish the fire, taking into account your own protection.
  4. Help other people to evacuate.

Fire extinguishers can also be used to extinguish burning people - pay attention to this:

  • Keep a safe distance of at least one meter.
  • Do not direct the extinguishing jet directly into the face.
