First aiders at the TU Dortmund University
An important component of safety
A central component of the safety concept is the first aid organization, which is ensured by the university management and on-site managers. Specially trained first aiders play a crucial role here.
Who are first aiders?
First aiders are committed laypersons who have been trained in first aid and can act quickly in an emergency. They are often the first people on the scene and take important measures to avert acute danger to life and health before professional emergency services arrive.
At TU Dortmund University, at least 10% of employees must be trained as first aiders in accordance with the requirements of Unfallkasse NRW. This regulation only applies to employees - students are excluded from this.
Training and regular refresher courses
To ensure that first aiders are always up to date, their knowledge must be refreshed every two years in a one-day course. The training courses include practical content such as correct behavior in the event of accidents, the application of life-saving emergency measures and how to deal with injuries or sudden illnesses.
Course offers
These courses are organized and run by Andreas Rabe, your contact person for first aid topics at TU Dortmund University. Unfortunately, due to the funding requirements of the Unfallkasse NRW, students cannot participate in these courses.
Dates for first aid training courses
You can easily find current dates for first aid training courses in the TU Dortmund University service portal. There you can find information and, if necessary, register directly.
Importance of first aiders for campus safety
The presence of qualified first aiders is an indispensable part of a functioning safety concept. By reacting quickly in an emergency, they help to
- Save lives,
- minimize injuries,
- prepare professional rescue measures.
With their training, they make a valuable contribution to safety on campus - both for employees and indirectly for students and guests.
